The diner in its previous location

In what sounds like one of the craziest business investment stories to come along in a while, Young & Hungry (City Paper) is reporting that a new diner will be coming to the Trinidad neighborhood.  Set to open next month, Capital City Diner will be housed in a vintage 1940’s diner that its two owners have picked up and moved down to DC from upstate New York.

But what’s more, the whole concept appears to have happened with the aid of eBay to solve a personal craving for a local eatery for the owners’ neighborhood.  According to Y&H, after nearly building a cheesesteak cart in their living room, owners Matt Ashburn and Patrick Carl embarked upon the relocation of the restaurant as a more sensible solution to their lack of available dining options in Trinidad.

Capital City Diner will be located at 1050 Bladensburg Road, NE and will offer traditional diner fare.
